I ran my 1st 10k in March, really enjoyed it and and found it suprisingly easy. I did it in 1.03 which I was really happy with at the time. Then disaster struck and in May I broke 2 lower ribs. It has been a slow recovery but I feel really well and fit again now.I have been running 2-3 times a week over 5-7 k for about 4 weeks now.I have been carb loading and following the usual tips ( as I did the 1st time) I have just completed my 2nd 10k on Sunday but i'm pretty devastated because I found it very difficult. At 5k I felt sick and faint and I practicually dragged myself around the course. I found it very difficult to deep breath and so I was out of breathe very quicky.I feel like I have little lung capacity.I was hopung for under 1 hour but it was 1.03 again.
Wondering if I have not fully recovered from my ribs yet or I have a problem with my training. Am i being too hard on myself or do I need to have a word and get training harder?
I broke 2 ribs 3 weeks ago. Missed a 10k recently because of it. Im climbing the walls but after reading these forums I realise I must be patient. I'm gonna start some light excersicing, walking etc for a couple more weeks. I tried to jog and the jolting really hurt so i'm hoping another couple of weeks and ill be nearly there.
