Hill walking, hours on your feet without the impact.

I am running in Powerstretch tights at the mo, totally breathable and keep you warm. I also put a pair of snowboard socks on that come upto my knee. Admittedly, I'm not running that fast!!

Thanks for the reply. I have already been on the Asics site, but it seems to be really slow to load for me at the mo, and keeps reverting back to another plan I did on it!!

I have joined the running club, which is great motivation, and I've just measured the route we did today and it was just a touch under 4.5 miles, so pleased with that. It was run on the Cotswold Edge, the views are simply stunning and I think that made it feel like a pleasure rather than hard work.

I'm going to think positive, my sister managed the 9 mile Sodbury Slog with minimal training in 2hrs15mins, so I should be ok I hope!!

Hi everyone, first post here so please be kind!!

I may have just done something a bit crazy. I have just entered the Hogweed Hilly Half.

Nothing out of the ordinary, except that I started running four weeks ago. Now, I would consider myself to be fit, I have spent the last twelve years mountaineering and climbing in the Alps, I'm used to long days, hours spent on my feet, and big cardiac efforts lugging heavy rucksacks up steep mountains at altitude. I have just run 4 miles without feeling at all out of breath, and I feel fine now. I could run 3 straight from the word go at 10min/mile pace.

Now, I don't intend to go for any great time, just to finish, I can walk up hills faster than a lot of people can probably run them, and I am happy to walk/run the route. The distance doesn't bother me either.

Running the distance might be an eye opener though!!

So, what are my chances, remember, please be kind.
