Well done Sam, 5 miles in slippery conditions is great. I find Yaktrax are absolutely brilliant for running on snow and ice but there must be a fair covering as tarmac will ruin them.

Lisa, hope the knee is better - couple of days of rest should sort it hopefully.Congratulations on your parkrun PB - that's so fast!

I managed under 30mins at parkrun yesterday but the course may have been slightly short so I'm not really counting it until I've done it again. Was definitely a PB though! Also had a great run on Friday morning despite it raining when I set off which turned to full snow after ten minutes. Was so cold when I got back though!

Hope everyone's running is going well, be careful out there!

Hello All,

I've been back a few pages, but got all muddled - that's what I get for not visiting for a couple of weeks!

Hope everyone's injuries are healing and running is all going well.

I've been really lazy the last few weeks and only run at parkrun or club sessions so really must get back into the habit of regular solo runs. 14 weeks to HM so need to find a training plan.

Pre-training training started yesterday with a 4.2miler on my own after work. I nearly stopped and walked twice but was running out of daylight and still had half a mile of farm track and nearly a mile of unlit back road ahead of me so I had to carry on! Will be going to the gym to cross-train later - a session worked out by a personal trainer which was responsible for me being almost unable to walk two days later! I think I'll reduce the reps and build it gradually. I know DOMS is not really a bad thing but mincing down stairs is not really my style!

Your mission statement is a bit cliche'd. You say your aim is to provide 'affordable' advice but there are already many websites which offer a mass of advice for free.

The info on the 5-10k running is frankly rubbish. ' Start by walking 5k and build up to  run' with no information on run/walk intervals or how to increase. The sample training programme lacks a build-up, timings etc - nothing about how long you should walk/run for or anything.

Wow Lisa! Well done indeedy  That is a really fab result. Celebratory drinkypoos tonight?

Daveo, that's so disappointing for you Take care x

Brenda, well done - sounds like a busy race, 9000 for a 10k!! Great time

Jae, that's a really great result too - it's amazing how a race atmosphere helps.

Working for me today sadly and not even a gym session. I did cycle to and from work despite the lead cycling legs!
