Maybe the pain is not in the knee but coming from elsewhere eg. your back or thigh.

Will chat again later when get the chance

Get the referral to the physio and then hope they carry out a good orthopaedic examination in order to give you and idea of where your pain is originating.

I like doing this with my hip pain runners - get a tennis ball - lie on  your painful side and then place the tennis ball in to the muscles above and below, to the front and behing the hip bone and see how that feels. So much hip pain in runners comes from surroundin muscles/trigger points.

How is your lower back - any issues there? The physio shoulkd be able to examine this at the same time.

Did the physio try taping your knee cap (patella) at all?

Are you very mobile - loose jointed?

Groin pain can certainly be referred from other areas - especially the lower back. If you have stiff degenerative joints in the lower back this can be the cause.

Hi Running Mummy

Tell us a bit more about the injury
Where in the knee?
When does it hurt - doing what?
Is there swelling?
Any catching, locking or giving way?
Can you squat onto your haunches?

Hopefully your physio went through these basics.

With a bit more info we may be able to provide you some idea.

Greg
