i finally went for the 1010's and was fairly happy with them although I do feel there is less cushioning in tbeen and as they feel a bit on the large size I've been trying them with the insole from my Kinvaras in them. Unfortunately though after very little use a hole has appeared in the outer fabric at the side of ttoe big toe. As my race is on Saturday I have had to order a new pair but i am not convinced sportsshoes will give me a refund when I return these as there is even a section off the vibram outer where you can see where rocks have damaged it. To top it all a shin pain that has been bothering me for a while is getting particularly worrying so I am resting and icing it regularly. I'm not sure how much of the shin pain is shin splints or whether it is caused by a kickboxing injury I got a few weeks ago. I just wish I lived closer too a running shop to get some advice and possibly some more cushioned shoes!
I am doing a 30 miler with mixed terrain, including a fairly substantial amount of road. I currently run in Kinvara 3's on the road but I find them a bit slippy off-road and they seem to retain water when I run through burns. I also use Saucony peregrines for off road but I find them far too hard on the road. I am thinking of getting some new balance minimus trail 10v2 but I am wondering if they will be too minimal for me for that distance. Although I am used to the kinvaras I do heel strike a fair bit - though not as much as I used to. Any advice? Also if I was to go for the minimus trails, what is there sizIng like? I wear a 5.5 in my Saucony's - a half size up from my normal shoes.
