Thanks for the advice. I've been looking at the 1010's - it's maybe a daft question but do you know off they come in a D width?  I can only see them in the B width And I do have wide feet.

By "hard" I mean more of a lack of flexibility. The Kinvaras feel soft and rubbery on the road but the peregrines even sound quite hard and I just find them quite jarring.

Would the 1010's be less hard than my peregrines do you think?  I've heard the kinvara trails are a bit narrow in the toes and I need quite a wide fit.

I am doing a 30 miler with mixed terrain, including a fairly substantial amount of road. I currently run in Kinvara 3's on the road but I find them a bit slippy off-road and they seem to retain water when I run through burns.  I also use Saucony peregrines for off road but I find them far too hard on the road. I am thinking of getting some new balance minimus trail 10v2 but I am wondering if they will be too minimal for me for that distance. Although I am used to the kinvaras I do heel strike a fair bit - though not as much as I used to.  Any advice?  Also if I was to go for the minimus trails, what is there sizIng like?  I wear a 5.5 in my Saucony's - a half size up from my normal shoes.

Can anyone recommend any minimalist shoes that would be good for both trail and road.  I am doing a 30 mile mixed terrain race with a fairly substantial amount of road in it.  I currently run in Saucony Kinvara 3's which I love but are just too slidy on wet grass, mud or even loose stones.  I normally wear Saucony peregrines for off-road and again I'm really happy with them but I find them far too hard for road. I've been looking at the New balance minimus trail shoe  and also the Brooks Pure Grit but I was wondering how they would be on the road. Any advice?
