Cheers for all the advice. Didn't have a great day, was on 6.42 ave pace at mile 22, when both my calves, hamstrings cramped up. Was a sight on my back for the passing runners! Lol Somehow managed to get back on my feet to finish in 3.10. Thought I had taken enough diorlyte for a small army since Thursday night but must have lost too much salt/electrolyte from my bug. Not too disappointed, was very comfortable until I cramped and I'm very happy to get over the line considering how badly I cramped. In hindsight I should have been sipping diorlyte from mile 1 instead of waiting for the cramp to happen. Silly error but one I've learned a lot from. Cheers for the advice again lads!
Cheers for the advice everyone. Found out why I was so tired last night, after midnight I had a little visit from a vomit & diarrhea bug...just fantastic!!!! Thankfully, it seems to have passed by this morning but had a severe lack of sleep last night and feeling very weak. Being taken Dioralyte and drinking plenty of water this morning. Going to head for a quick kip at lunch time today. Soup for lunch and take it from there. Trying not too panic but as you can imagine Sunday at 8.30am is approaching fast. Bit of a disaster to be honest. Anybody any advice, at a bit of a loss here!
Yes running Derry on Sunday, weather looking good at the minute, hopefully stays that way. Great marathon for the spectator Kenny. Blue bridge at 6 and 15 mile, Peace bride (2 mins walk from Blue Bridge) 20 Mile, Across the road for 24 mile and a short walk to the finish.
Hi, Sub 3 attempt on coming up on Sunday. Have hit all my targets in warm up races and did 95% of the training. I've having a really bad taper, felt awful/lethargic the whole way, no urge to run at all and cant get myself pepped up for Sunday. Went out for an easy 25 min run this morning and it has exhausted me. Please tell me this is normal. I know all about taper madness etc, but don't think I should be feeling this tired so close to the marathon.
