Is it meant to be official, for points/leagues/rankings? Probably not, but if only taking note for your personal log then yes I would count it! I smashed my 20 mile PB in the Berlin Marathon and i totally count that!! I count PBs gained in training runs, not just races anyway. Grab that silver lining!
Yes I agree on putting that money into the race itself. Goodies along the way are much appreciated - perhaps a range of energy sweets/flapjacks/salty snack especially in distance races. Best goody I ever had was a proper shower after a half marathon in 30 degree heat this year. But I still love the medals.
medal for a 7km? I would always use to try and go for a PB - a medal will seem worth it then
Yes the London landmarks are the big plus for me, not often you get to run closed roads in the city.
Not trying to compare the costs/logistics of a tri with that of an ultra, but when you have forked out so much for tri's then at the end of the year, somehow, £100 doesn't seem like it will make much of a difference by now anyway *not looking forward to bill coming though now, having said that!*
Haha I meant as in if I were left to my own devices for 6+ hours with no signposts and few marshals, I would no doubt get totally lost! SoI am happy this time to pay a premium for extra support and help! I'm not saying I do not like the countryside, most of my long training runs are trail and more than happy to do trail marathons/half's - it's just I know the routes well or they are very well supported.
