Thanks M...eldy. Heading to a bike shop that has been recommended to me. Just wanted to go armed with some facts. Right now all of the above is just words! I'll see what they say

I'm in... I don't own a bike yet. Looking for some advice actually. I have signed up for a duathlon, 2 x tris (sprint and challenge distance) and I have the Ride 100.  I want to buy a road bike and want to get a reasonable spec, what would you advise?

So far I have been recommended to look at bikes with a carbon frame, aluminium forks, a shimano 105 group set and to make sure I get a ladies bike.  Also, it seems a bike fit is key.  I've also been told that Merida are worth looking at. Are there any useful guides out there as right now I am relying on google.

Thanks all

Way to go!  Awesome work!  That's a complete transformation from where you were a few weeks ago!

I've just found the tribesport site.  You can sign up through facebook and if you like to set yourself challenges its a pretty good way of doing it!  I signed up yesterday and have signed up for loads of challenges as it is the only way I can motivate myself most of the time.  Also, I have signed up for challenges in things I don't really like but know are good for me like abs work!  We'll see how long it lasts.

The programmeis for 1/2M and is quite challenging (no walk/run at all and lots of long runs on Sundays that will be interesting) but the previous programme was too much mileage too soon and with this one I currently feel like I still have energy (so far!)

Glad the running club is working out for you, some work friends have been asking about running clubs so maybe I will finally make the leap! Have a great weekend!
