I am running my first Ultra at Endure 50 mile race (7pm till 7am) at Beale Park, Reading on 18th July. I completed my first marathon in Edinburgh in May but also recently ran 35 miles during the Endure 24 weekend, so looking forward to it.
It is a 5 mile loop so I will be able to stop for drinks/ food.
Would it be recommended to get an hydration backpack for the Ultra or rely on the drinks provided and interval stops ?
Hi, I am in exactly the same boat with my HM tomorrow. Training was all going well until 3 weeks ago when ITB kicked in. I rested it for a week and a bit with icing of knee. I have managed to complete a 10k training run in last few days and yes it starts to niggle after 4 miles but is not bad enough to stop me running. From what I have read, it is a very common runners problem and people have success of treating it in various ways. I am sure it will niggle me on my HM but being my first HM I was not going to pull out. Good luck with your HM
I have my first half marathon in 3 weeks on 7/10, however after todays training run (13miles), i was suffering from a pain on the outside of my knee, which i believe is Illotibal band syndrome. The HM is on a hilly course which i have been running over the last few weekends in preparation and after today i was going to start cutting the miles down.
How long do you believe i need to rest the knee for, noting my half is in 3 weeks ?
