Thanks for the advice. I'll try the GP and see where I get. If no joy I'll book in with a physio who I trust (he's put me back together more times than I'd like to think) as if he can suspects the stress fracture, he can advise the GP to send me for a scan and hopefully they'll listen.
I suspect I've got a stress fracture in a metatarsal. I went to A&E last week where the doctor happily informed me no fracture, soft tissue damage only. Keep icing it and keep moving. So far no improvement - if anything it's getting more painful (not at all convinced about the A7E doctor, he examined my foot when my socks were still on). I can walk on it for a few steps but then I start limping because of the pain. It's not particularly swollen but it does swell more when I've been walking on it or not keeping it up. I'm a bit concerned I'm doing more damage to it with the amount pain I get when I walk on it. Should I go back to A&E (a different one as I was away when I went to the first) or should I leave it and go see my GP next week and see if I can convince them to send me to physio (I'm suspecting the chances of my getting a scan are minimal) or something. I do have Benenden cover, which means as long as the GP agrees to physio/scan/specialist opinion, they will cover the cost for me to go private. I know it's not been a long time, but I was hoping to do a spring marathon and I had to have 6 weeks off with a virus then Christmas so I was just getting back into it (and probably building my mileage far too fast).
I'm looking at trying to run straight after work and I'd like to be able to create routes round the canal towpaths in Salford. I use mapmyrun but it doesn't have the footpaths, only the canals and roads and I'm not 100% sure of exactly where the paths are. Can anyone recommend a site that would let me create routes and export them to mapmyrun or another Android app.
