I think I will leave the more personal line of conversation to others! However, I am a 10.5 UK size In the Ghosts. I have wide Feet, but not grotesquely so. However when I was first fitted for shoes, the 2e was perfect and 30 miles on the marathon proved this.
the tread on the bottom of the Middle of the front of the foot is scrubbed away. My old shop suggested it could be because as I lift of, I may twist a little. However, there is no way of compensating for this as I understand it. Their suggestion was because I land with such a lot of PSI, any twist is going to wear the shoe quickly.
the rest of the sole, heel, outside, inside etc remains 90% unworn when the middle, middle of the front has worn clean away....
that said, a new pair feels wonderful in comparison, even after 50 miles.
Thanks for all the positive encouraging comments folks.
when I was walking in them, I got 80-100 miles. Now I have lost I want to start doing half marathons with a jog. When I walked VLM in 7 hrs they were ok. Now I am lighter but fitt and have started do jogging, you can see the degradation in just a 5 mile run!
having started running, I don't want to go back....all that wind in your hair stuff an' all that!
can anyone recommend a cheaper, 2e width fitting for me please. I live in the middle of nowhere so visiting a running shop is a 90 minute round drive.
The soles wear out. No tread left Mr puffy so I stsrt to slip. The rest of th shoe is reasonably ok so one person suggested getting them resoled. however, the rest of the shoe is pretty compressed by 80 miles.
so it's its just my weight, I am going to have to give up because I sm doing 30 miles a week and I can't afford £200 a month in trainers?
i have been speed walking in a Brooks Ghost 2e wide because they wererecommended and I LOVE them. Walked marathons and now started jogging.
the shoe is perfect for me, but AND ITS An BIG BUT I am going through a pair every 70-90 miles. My local run shop has looked at them and said the wear pattern is perfect, symmetrical and in the right place - which indictates they are the right shoe. However, at £90 a pair, it is costing me over £1 a mile to go running.
can anyone advise either a) a cheaper shoe or b) something that will lasts muc longer. Before anyone says it, brooks beast are for over pronators and I amneutral.
i was 30 stone, now I am down to 21 stone but still the shoes are dying in me.
