Hi and thanks for your reply.
They are fine now, but it took a good week before I couldn't feel them walking down stairs. I didn't realise at the time how common an injury/symptom of marathon running it was, but since posting this thread I've discovered it to be so.
We haven't run down hill for anywhere near as far (in one go) as we did on the day, and due to my running partners weak knee we did take the slope down into the tunnel very carefully (it's 1mile roughly), and I understand now the breaking effect wouldn't of done us any favours either!
Cheers

Hi guys, please help RunLiverpool was my first marathon, and the furthest i had run by 8 miles, so i expected plenty of pain and stiffness in the wake of it to be honest, but i'd like to learn more about my quads, and why these kill when nothing else hurts at all? Why do you think it is everything is fine (quite unbelievably so in fact), but my quads are so tight? The same goes for my running partner too. 4 hrs 9 min Thanks in advance Tom EDIT: I have to lower myself into chairs, and walking up or down the stairs is a one-at-a-time suffle, with both hands firmly on the rail! |

LP will be my first full matathon and everything was going so well until i caught the dreaded man-flu on Monday! I reckon i'll be 90% over it by Sunday, but we'll see! :S Just toying with the idea of using an old white t-shirt to make the letters T, O and M out of so i can stitch them on my dark navy top that i will be wearing. If the sewing is neat, with all knots on the outside i can't see it will rub... What would you guys do? Ta Tom EDIT: I half thought about emulsion or tippex... |

I've been doubting the circumference of Cheddar res since we finished, but Mat assured me he googled it, and it was 2.92 (or something) around. It isn't! I've just found out the 20.4 mile run wasn't at all, and we only ran 15 on Sunday - gutted, and i feel rather daft with this egg all over my face! Sorry guys. The maths now suggest we were running at 4 hr 20 pace, which is slow, and would explain why i had far too much left in the tank - i was doing the 'funky chicken' for the last 50m so pleased was i with the time and energy i had remaining!! I enjoyed a very long hot shower - can't do baths if i'm honest, as i get too stuffy! Not too keen on this whole ice bath thing after the marathon though - seems a little backward to be even if geeks with white coats and thick glases say otherwise! Tom |
