I've just Got a Garmin Fenix (also own a Garmin Forerunner 210). While I love tech and find them very useful, I am an old school navigation instructor and although I use tech, I weigh heavily towards map/compass.

When batteries die and Satelites can't be received..... what is left?

These days you would thing manufacturers could get sizing right. I take a UK 7 in shoes. Generally I wear New Balance, so have to go to a size 8.

It's not just shoes - clothes are the same. RonHill I am a small in tops, Gore a medium and Helly Hansen a large??

My first and so far only GPS watch is the Forerunner 210. I also have a HR belt and footpod. I tried a 610 and 310XT the other day in a shop and now I want a 310XT.

The 210 is pretty basic and in my opinion expensive for what it is. I can pick up a 310XT (on it's own) for £165. I paid £197 for the 210 with HR belt (I bought the footpod seperately).

+1 for Brooks beast - although they are heavy. But as others have said - visit a running shop who can check out your gait.
