As above say ignore your mates, they are just jealous of your achievements. I’m just as slow as you and completed my first marathon in Berlin two weeks ago in 4:41, don’t care about the time... I finished! Keep on training and you will naturally become faster with time, when you are able join a running club as my improvements came on after joining a club. Good luck
Thanks for the postive message, thankfully my ankle is alot better and I'm sure I'll be on the start line in new york. Will be carefull about my food intake from now on, going to go swimming for an hour daily which should maintain my CV fitness.
I ran Paris this year and it was great. I've recently joined a local running club after training alone for years, I never wanted to join as I worried about my slowish pace! (4:45 marathon) but they cater for all sorts and I'm certainly not the slowest. Since I've joined my pace has increased and my marathon times have improved.
And as above says, don't miss any sessions, I’ve been out in the snow, rain, sleet etc etc, no excuses!
The feeling of completing the marathon is something really special, come and join the 1% club! (only 1% of the population will complete a marathon)
