I have had mild calf pain for a couple of weeks after runs but last week I did a long run and was walking with a limp for a few days after. I haven't ran since.
The pain is at the top of my calf just below the back of the my knee. It hurts the most when I walk/run downhill. No pain going uphill. It doesn't hurt when I put weight through my leg, it's more when I pick my leg up off the ground when walking/running, if you understand what I mean.
I've been stretching and foam rolling and haven't ran for a week but the niggle is still there. I daren't try a run yet. Just wondered what anyone would suggest I do?
A couple of days ago I noticed a hard, tender knot in my IT band. It doesn't hurt when I run and I don't know it's there unless I touch it. I have been a bit lazy with stretching just lately and have increased my runs since the beginning of the year so it's my own fault really I think
I get very tight calf's and use a foam roller when they become tight. Should I just use the foam roller on my IT band also or do you think I need to see a sport's physio? It's quite a large knot I think.
I managed 1:52.28 at Retford today. A new pb for me, took over 5 minutes off my last HM time in November. Had a good run but always seem to lose my head at mile 10, slow right down for a couple of miles and then manage to pick it up again for the last mile. But I'm still really happy with the result.
Wasn't the weather a shock to the system today! Not used to the warmth lol.
Well it seems I was right about thinking I was coming down with a cold. I've been quite ill since Sunday evening and haven't ran since the Sunday morning. Usually I would run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday but I haven't done a thing.
Today I feel a lot better but I'm still not 100%. Should I try and get out and do some efforts tonight or will I be ok to rest up until the weekend? I'm worried about losing fitness after all the training I've been putting in.
