Seen first hand in the last few weeks how weak the union is. Like you it's time to leave, the revision for me is the final straw. They're currently just sickening me as I got union involved for something that happened that was blatantly unfair and wrong and got no support from the union as our guy is in the back pocket. Since then I've been sent out to other offices and no longer have a regular duty.
Got couple weeks holiday coming up so will take the holiday pay and well consider my options!
Like you faithsdaddy I'm a postman also so know exactly where you're coming from, it's only going to get worse as well! With Sunday deliveries being tried in certain areas it won't be long before it will be 5 days over 7 and you'll probably agree the union will rollover as usual and accept it.
Think if you want to reduce hours in RM you could ask for part time contract? You could still get more hours in overtime( if your area is constantly short staffed and they pull people in from other places like mine) but it will be your choice if you want to do the overtime?
HR are a waste of time, they're certainly not there to help you the employee. Been suggested try a union but sadly the unions are in the back pocket of the employer as well( find out who it is and I bet he/she is the untouchable one in your place) best thing to do is face up to the bully, politely, controlled but with real meaning.
Anyone else finding it really hard in this heat? Thought I would try a new way and got out of bed this morning at 6.30am and did a tough wee 5 miler, went well and Sun wasn't out but took a mile or so for the legs to actually wake up!!
