Hi all

I'm just 3 weeks away from my next marathon - but week ago, and in the middle of a pretty steady 5mi, my left hammy decided it had had enough and tightened up significantly. Ever since, I've not been able to run on it as it just tightens again, painfully.

I've stretched, I've bathed, I've iced, I've rested, I've massaged -  but a week on, its no better.

I get some discomfort from my lower glute after excertion. The hammy tightness seems to wear off when I walk, but if I walk for any great amount of time (5 miles today), the feeling is there - break into a jog/run - ouch !

My last long run was 2 weeks ago - 21 miles, which I completed without any problem at all. I've done 19/20/21 miles in the last month. But I'm seriously worried my conditioning will suffer in the next few weeks.

Do I take up cross training / swimming / cycling / rowing to keep the CV up?

I'm calling a physio on Monday, but any info in the mean time would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance :-}
