Hadnt considered hiring, will have a look at that. Theres a good open water loch nearby which you can hire to practice so I will experiment before then. |

Having decided to take the plunge at Wimbleball, I'm now looking for a wetsuit, undeterred by the fact that I've never swam 1.2 miles or in open water. Swimmimg seems to be coming on ok as long as I use a pull buoy since I seem to have heavy runners legs. I'm hoping a wetsuit will provide a similar level of buoyancy? I'm thinking 2xu T2/3 or Z1 or possibly something from Blue Seventy. Dont want to go nuts with expense since I dont know how much open water I'l do in the future. June will decide. Any thoughts? |

Budgie, same here. 150m tops before I'm heaving for breath but it is coming slowly. Apparently for the last 20 years I've been kicking from the knee down, once I learned to kick with whole leg my legs have come up and create less drag but a lot of improvement required in a short time |

See you there James, first 70.3 for me too. Plenty running happening at the moment, working hard on swimming but struggling to do more than 5 continous lengths so far but its coming gradually. I'm pretty confident that my £300 Specialized Allez will handle the cycling although I'm about to change the cassette to a 12/28 to improve climbability. Serious bike training starting any day now (probably). Anybody else from north of the border going to Wimbleball? |

Think I'll go for a long distance trisuit though its difficult to know which one since they have several, lond distance, elite etc... Your points about seperates are well made though I never normally need to stop for "comfort breaks" even at marathon distance, dehydration sees to that. I'll probably acquire seperate pieces in due course as required. Will also check out Zoot which I hadn't looked at, as posterior comfort is definitely high on my list of priorities. Cheers all. |
