So whose taking part in this one? From the early weather forecast it looks like it could be a wet one! |

Do you think it's important? That's all that matters. I guess so, I've not run enough 5 miles to know what pace I can cope with, I'm hoping if I can see my heart rate, distance, time and average pace then I can judge how I'm coping as I go and adjust accordingly? |

On race days and/or training what data fields do you find the most useful on your Garmin watch? I currently have two screens enabled with the first showing: - Current Heart Rate
- Time
- Distance
and the second speed just showing Do you think this is all the useful information I need to know while I'm running? It's my first actual race at the weekend so I'm hoping to use the information to make sure I don't run too fast or too slow, kind of worried about going too fast and shattering myself in the first 20 minutes or going to slow and finishing in an hour ... it's only a 5 mile so it shouldn't be too intense? (reasure me please ) I'm pretty sure this race allows both running gps and heart monitors, do most none professional ones? |

I'm currently entering races/runs for this year and one I'm about to enter states: "Are you an amateur as defined by the BAF?" I've never heard of this before, what is it? what are all the rules? Can I read them somewhere? I did a bit of Googling and found some threads about not being alowed to wear heart rate monitors but they were quite old? |

If you're buying a treadmil make sure to buy a good quality one with lots of reviews and a top brand. Cheap ones, no matter what they say are never a bargain and result in a loss of money. We used to have a cheapish* one but if you ran too heavy footed then the moving belt would touch the floor and stop which made it feel like you were going to a backflip or something quite acrobatic, very scary! On the other hand by old gym in Canterbury from when I was a student had treadmills with fans built into the control panel section, was quite 'cool' to be able to change your speed, incline and fan speed whilst running. |
