I've posted on one of the other threads , but the tortoise is spot on , the roar at 23 miles was such a boost it felt like the family were all there ! I already had a place and phoned Macmillan at 2 weeks notice to say I was running without sponsorship . Tipped up at the excel and they gave me a vest as Id lost the other one , loads of encouragement and big smiles . The money is coming in , and the next runs for them as well - Brilliant !!
First marathon , trained for 3.28 . Started in middle of pen 5 , got 3.34 chip time . felt no probs at start , but 1st 2 miles were v frustrating ; lots of stopping and starting due to bunching. So many people just changing course made things difficult , the few that gave hand signals ( not that sort of hand signal !!! ) made it easier . Great day , great support ,feel that I want to try and get that 3.28 before I get much older
My first one , agree with everyone re the crowds ,fantastic . That Japanese band at 5ish really gave me a lift . But the Mcamillan team raised the roof for all wearing their green vest- made my day !One downer , the only celeb I saw was Ian duncan Smith , my bro who watched saw Nell MacAndrew - wheres the justice in that !!!
