| I've recently moved to Hyde near Manchester and I'm looking for a running club to join. Haven't been to one before - although I am not a beginner to running, just out of the habbit (and therefore carrying about 2-3 stone excess). I know there is a running shop in town, so if no joy here will make a point of making my queries there. Thanks in advance..... |

Hi, I'm looking for some ideas for a healthier diet. I know what foods are good for you and all that. what I am really after is a good healthy eating recipe book, or diet plan to follow. I am no good in the kitchen, and want quick and easy meals to make, that will enhance my training. and also lose weight. Can anyone help.

I am looking to enter a half marathon in September, or October. Obviously the Great North run is fully booked, which cancels that out. I participated in the GNR last year and found it a great motivator during my training. I managed to lose quite a bit of weight, which was my main aim, (along with improving my fitness). I wish to enter a similar event this year, as due to injury and then lack of motivation I have been unable to train, which has resulted in me putting on the pounds again. Can anyone recommmend an event in and around this time??? |

| I have made a couple of queries regarding the GNR, but as its my first event, I am both excited and slightly apprehensive. The training has gone pretty well, and I am not too worried about the run itself, as I just plan to enjoy the day. I am more concerned about getting to the start on time. I have read an article some while ago, that suggested taking some old clothing and discarding it before the run, this way you wouldn't have to turn up for the luggage buses quite so early. If I were to do this, what would be a reasonable time to get to the start? |
