I did it!Hooray im so thrilled. I managed in 3 hours...but I did run the whole way And I wasn't last in! I got a bit thrown as a large I section of it was off road, and that really seemed to affect my legs, but it wasn't pain, they just felt like jelly. It was a super day and I'm mega stiff today.
I must admit, I can't see myself doing a half marathon again. It was just a bit too much for me but I'm so glad I did it and I raised £500 for charity which made it all so much more worth while. Definitely going to keep running though, I enjoy 10km and find it a comfortable distance so m going to work on my speed now.
Thanks for all your advicthe the weather was great yesterday but its turned Betty horrid today so I'm very delivered I'm not running In it! I do feel for the runners doing TGN.
Thank you all very much for your replies. I'm feeling slightly better now. I managed 11miles in 2:25 the other day and it felt very steady. I haven't checked to see if there is a cut off time, I don't think there was because I'm sure it asked me to guess my time when I entered...although I can't remember what I put at the time I know it would have been in the cautious side. I am excited now and the weather is looking set to be alright. I also at the last minute decided to raise money for a charity and have been so overwhelmed by the support I'm getting, which I really never did suspect. I had worried no one would feel like sponsoring and that people get fed up with that kinds of thing. Tomorrow I'm doing my last 8 or 10km and on Friday I'm going to do 3km.
I definitely prefer running by my self so the advantage of being behind everyone else will mean I don't have this stupid urge to keep up with anyone in front! i just hope I manage the extra 2 miles. I feel ok after 11 (last weeks was the best yet) but oh it's so FAR!
I've got my first half marathon next weekend and absolutely fully realise that I will be very much last! The previous years race results show me this. I should finish in over 3 hours, but I'm not really bothered by this. The fact that I can even do this pleases me and I really do think that anyone who can do it in LESS than 3 hours must have super human powers!!
I've not beeFalashas yet in any of the 10kms or 5kms I've done so far, but I've been in the bottom 1/4!
I am super fat though, so I do realise that this is entirely my issue!
