Masking tape on the shorts didn't stick too well so in the end I stuffed gels and block shots into my arm phone holder thing and masking taped more onto the outside of the phone holder window. That worked fine.
I've now got a triathlon race number belt with gel loop holder things so gonna try that next for a long run
The masking take thing was from taking bananas to my bike on the L2B, that didn't work so well either. Going to get proper pockets and holders from now on
Sole is the same, support the same. In the 18, the support has moved towards the heel so depending on your needs, might not work for you anymore so do check before buying.
17 has a 'sock' inside the shoe which the laces 'draw up' from the base of the shoe so it is a tighter and more even fit.
The 17 also has more support through stiching in the toe box, the 16 felt naked and airy and free in the toes. This is apparently good if you felt like you didn't get enough support at the front of the shoe.
What it feels like for me is the 17 feels stiffer, maybe because it is new (20 miles) and the 'sock'. This 'sock' gives good wet weather protection through puddles and wet grass, keeping my toes fairly dry so far. The 16 would have just let the water through.
I would favour the 16 free and nothing on my toes feeling in warmer climates and a long dry road run. I am wearing the 17 for mixed and trail terrain for more support and wet protection.
Pleased with both, they just feel slightly different.
It all sounds like a war zone. I have seen the videos, even of the elites at the first buoy, it looks like a free for all and everyone for themselves. Surely no one is out there to do harm to anyone, no one in their right mid would be there deliberately trying to hurt people. It does sound like people being single minded in trying to defend their space though.
I'm doing my first ever sprint in Aug, I am learning the crawl and am determined but I know I have breaststroke as my plan b. I wont be ashamed to hang out at the back to start and then swim my own pace and style. I want to enjoy the experience and finish and do what it will take me to succeed. I have a ton of confidence in my breaststroke and it is very likely I will be using it at least for part of the swim.
