Beth, I am glad you asked that question as I was going to ask the same! I managed a 19 miler in 3hr 7 mins over the weekend (just under 10 min miles) and wondered do I start tapering now or push to 21 this weekend? I ran my last marathon 2 years ago which was Loch Ness in 3hr 37mins but having suffered achilles injuries for the last 2 years (and still got bursitis!) I have not been doing any 'proper' training! I will be taking it easy - the only thing I suffered really on my LSR last weekend was a bruised toe nail and a little tiredness! Hope your training continues going to plan! |

Hi all, Hope you all had a good weekend and long run! Me, I managed a 17 miler in a slow 2hr 50 mins although there were a few hills! I am planning to run round at 10 min mile pace so was happy with this! I wasn't too happy with the bloke in the white van shouting "run, fatboy, run!" though - cheeky bu***r! And having been for a gait analysis, I was stunned to see that the Army physio that I have been using has given me an awful pair of orthotics! I have now purchased a pair of Asics GT 2150 and what an improvement! Little Stoker, I too have suffered in the past but now learned my lesson! Plenty of vaseline on chest and legs before i venture out for my long run! I also have a camelpak! But won't have it in Inverness! I plan on 19 miles this weekend then 21 the week after before tapering off! I won't be anywhere near my time of 3hrs 36mins 2 years ago though! Regards to you all |

Well folks, it's been a long time since I came on these forums having been out of running now for a good while! Anyhow, I am looking forward to completing th BLN marathon although will be some way off my time 2 years ago when I ran it in 3hr 37! I am now aiming to get round in under 5hrs due to some serious achilles injuries. Still suffering with achilles bursitis now but popping 400mg Brufen 3 times a day!!! I managed a slow 15 miles on Saturday in 2 hrs 30 although felt reasonably ok after it. Now though, I can barely move. I can't say I am looking forward to my 4 miler tomorrow. And I have 18 planned for next week - that is gonna be hard!!! Well folks, I hope that your training is all going well and will see you all on 03 Oct. Look for me coming in towards the end! I will get round though even if I have to crawl! Regards |

Ah, well, at least the 'other half' 'll be happy! She thought I might have to invest in some more suitable shoes!!
I am also looking forward to the beer! Just so long as I finish the run in one piece!
Might just put my Chris Brasher boots on and 'ramble' round the course instead!
