I have had back pain since tailing off running after the FLM this year. A physio has told me I have ineffective bracing muscles, torn abs(from childbirth 5 years ago!) and an unstable hip and that my spinal bones are taking the full pounding of running thus causing sore bones&pain. I love running though and I am due to run the Great south next weekend. Some say I should not and others say it should not make much difference. Any advice from runners please who understand my real dilemma!
Me and Hubby are wearing Meningitis black running vests and our names are on the front.Andrew and Debs.It is our first marathon.Hopefully I will be with sub 5 or get you round group.Andrew is a bit quicker and will get to 18 miles in under 2 and a half hours. Please give me some support and jelly babies - so scared of crowds at the best of times and running this alone! So glad you are at 18 miles.Hopefully a marc and michelle will join you and help out in the morning - if that's o.k of course! Cheers.
Does anyone know if the sub 5 group do run/walk? I have done a half marathon in 2hr 10min but couldn't sustain this for 26miles and I got this time by run/walk. If not I will have to join the get you round group but this might be too slow and painful for my legs!
I feel much better after hearing that Lucy Benjamen(Lisa on Eastenders)who is leading the flora group has only run 12 miles as her longest run so far! I am going to attempt more than a 15mile run this week but if I don't manage it I know I will do the FLM even if I crawl over that line to get my medal!!
