You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Over analyzing everything, toffs this, working class that. You seem to forget the essence of sport is one persons dedication, commitment and effort to their sport that counts. Regardless of whether thay have millions of pounds behind them or not. I am an ultra distance runner and have been inspired by ALL athletes regardless of their sport or backgrounds. Do not lose sight of the fact that we all have goals and expectations and I am sure Paula does too, or she would not have been in the race in the first place.
I would love to meet the person who could do exactly what they wanted at precisely the right time, every time. Enjoy your sport whatever it may be and whatever level you are at and ignore the blinkered few who feel obliged to criticise and find fault in others acheivements due to their own failings. YB

Numbness in the feet which starts between the toes and carries on to the ball of the foot and then causes loss of feeling can be down to a condition called "Mortons Neuroma" where the nerves inbetween the toes are crushed or pinched by the toes themselves. This can be caused by tight fitting shoes at the ball of the foot as you are effectively squashing your toes and nerves together. What works for me is to put a pad under the insole of your shoe so that it rests under the 2nd 3rd and 4th toes area on the ball of the foot. This raises the centre of the ball of the foot and so spreads the toes slightly, releiving the pinching of the nerves. Works for me and I am ultra running training at the moment so comfort and endurance are paramount. Enjoy !!!!

Daniel. I bought myself a Bladdered sack about a month ago and its awesome. I have a platypus bladder in it (1.8 ltr). There are plenty of adjusting straps so it shouldnt move about when running at all. I do endurance running so am on the go for up to three hours at a time at the moment without a break and I havent had any rubbing or "hot spots" with it. I got mine from Tiso and it cost £35. I dont however carry lots of kit when running so it might be a wee bit small for what you require to carry, but it does expand out larger.

Thanks Graeme, nope I havent ran an ultra before ! I am however running with someone who has, so hopefully by the time it comes around I should be in top shape , or completely burst, one of the two ! Checked out the website too, there are some very scary looking climbs, my knees hurt just looking at it. Ta YB
