Finally managed to log back into this forum. I did it. I completed my first marathon. Was a bit worried, as didnt do much training for the last 6 weeks of my programme (followed the programme pretty well up to about week 10 and then it all went a bit haywire). I made it to the half way mark without incident and on schedule for 3:15. Then my body started breaking down on me, and I got slower and slower, to the point that I was doing 10 min miles by the end.
Still managed a sprint at the end - somehow. Managed to complete it in 3hr 57 and 38 sec.
Was quite chuffed with that really.
Hope everyone is feeling fully recovered now. My ankles are a bit sore still, but other than that, am alright.

Better put me down for a 3:45

It will be my first Marathon, so lets not get too ambitious.

I've booked my flight and hotel now, so thats all sorted. (used priceline for hotel and klm for flight)

Staying at the same Park Hotel. Had to pay £107 for 2 nights.

Flight was £75 incld tax. - not ultra cheap but too busy to p!ss around trying to find something cheaper.

Now all I have to do is find a half marathon to do in the next month or so.

Bristol looks good, but seems to be full. Maybe Robin Hood half, or Isle of Whyte half in 2 weeks time. (anyone got any other suggestions??)

Thanks for that info. I haven't done a half marathon recently, so guess I will have to just keep training, and see how I go on the day.

I havent read the rest of this rather long thread, but does any one have any pointers on good places to stay in Amsterdam?

Are there any common themes - places where lots of other runners are staying?
