So how did you guys get on?  Did you survive the mighty Fellsman?

Interested to hear about your headtorch experince T.blair.  I have a Hope R4, but didn't want to carry it because of weight concerns.  In the end I took my Petzl Myo and it was fine.

Hmmm.  Isn't that sort of thing frowned on Andrew?

I haven't done this race for a few years now, the exorbitant cost has put me off - good to hear that a technical T shirt is on offer now, I have a pile of old Abbey Dash T shirts at home that will never be worn.  Still a lot of dosh for a 10K though - if there was a grand panorama of gorgeous scenery I could half understand it ..... I suppose it IS a PB course though and that's what will drag a lot of runners to the start line.

Interesting thread, but I can chime in some advice here:  The 2150 is generally accepted to have missed the boat (ie. not as good) in comparison to earlier 2100 models, it's cushioning geometry was markedly different.  I tried it - having worn out lots of the earlier models - and can confirm it was not a good shoe, I've since found it has caused injury problems in a lot of dedicated 2100 wearers.  Of course, Asics will never admit to this

The 2160 is Asics attempt to get back on course and it's not bad.  I've just worn out my first pair and am about 100 miles into the second.  Asics messed with the profile, meaning it has more midfoot volume and also the heel cup is much higher (try comparing and you'll see what I mean), this causes problems when wearing low-cut socks for a lot of users.

So, 2160 better than the 2150 by a good margin, however the 2140 remains the best model in recent years, the 2120 coming a close second.
