Gazelle - we all have "not so good days" there will be a reason for it and it won`t be that "you are sh*t" put that race to bed and then carry on, these setbacks are what make us stronger people and we all have the up days and down days, so you are not alone. chin up.

SS- it sounds just like the weather is rubbish there and the only thing it must be good for is sunbathing, and who wants to do that all the time. as long as you have a plan then you can enjoy your training.

As for me I have decided that I cannot run marathons with my foot still in a bad way, I can run ok up to about 14-15 miles then it gets realy bad and starts to cause me massive gait issues and pain in my hips etc.
This does ultimatley mean that my autumn target at Abingdon will be another DNS for me, which after London`s DNS is another bitter pill to swallow  but I will not let the hard work that I have done coming back to some sort of fitness go to waste and will concentrate on some half marathons and some shorter distance races until I can get the surgery done.
I can also bike so plenty to keep me motivated and hopefully when I can run a marathon again then it will be all the more enjoyable affair for all the past disapointments of this season.

Kev - Well done on the marathon race and a great report too, Nice way to do a holiday and slip in a marathon as well.

AA - Super big dog swimming, when is that ironman entry coming ?

O4S - Have a nice beer, the trip soounds fantastic.

Sounds lots good runs and training is being done as always espicially when we see what life throws in the way at times.

Another 20 miles run this morning 8:26 pace and to be honest it is not looking great for me being able to race the marathon at Abingdon in October.
The training is going very well and I feel in great shape, I have lost nearly half a stone in weight,  have got some good pace in my running and my aerobic conditioning is good but.............................................................................................................

I am having allsorts of foot/leg issues when I get above 14 miles on a run and the pain in my foot gets very acute and the running form descends into something that resembles the hunchback of Notre Dame, which is not good at all , all very frustrating when at the end of a long run you want to go on some more, but the foot is not allowing it.

I will still mull this over a bit, but as we all know that last 6 miles of a marathon is  the tough part and to knowingly go into that part of the race already struggling to run would not be that something that I would recommend to others, maybe time to put the sensible hat back on.

Spoons - It didn`t.  It is called a break and after watching what you put yourself through over the last 18 months,  the break is one you thoroughly deserved.

Don`t worry you will come back a far stronger runner this time and nail that sub 3:30 thing.

Jusst make sure that you get the right person coaching you this time, we want to see you get what you deserve, come join the sub 3:30 club.

Chick - sounds like a great week away in my book and the speed will come back to you, so don`t panic.

Minni - well done on what sounded like a tough 10k, Funny how you looked around at the start area and thought everybody looked well fast, ever thought that is what those people thought when they looked at you.
come and do a flat 10k in the Fens, then again it my be 10k of horrendous headwind and you would be no better off.

AA- have a great big dog mega distance swim, I am afraid I don`t envy you on that one, and swimming that distance at breast stroke would put anybody off, but you will do great though.

2Old - yes very cold in Lake louise in January, the ceremony was on the frozen lake in minus 25 degrees celsius, frostbite cold, and high heels walking on the ice was well dodgy, .......................................... no not me !

O4S - The inn has a great bar below, very nice friendly feel, good food and the beer, Molson, Labbats, enough said.

Freemers - have a great 21st birthday tomorrow.

Red - it will come back just give it time.
