I was in the 4.15 pen and finished in 4.08. At 8km the Pink Pacer was in front of the 4.15 pacer and was surrounded by Pink runners, I think he shouted at them to slow it down and we passed. I met up with someone from our village......how surreal was that?? and she was in the Pink and said they went out to our left. So I think that some of the Pink may well have gone out before we went, but not sure, but they were quite a way in front at the 8k point.
It was quite busy at 10k and I found it very very busy at 35k when people were stopping, taking photos, and generally just getting in the way of people who clearly wanted to pass the 4.15 pacer (ie me) Lots of elbowing and shouting was going on by people around me. I bashed in to a pedestrian about then I think - and swore at her (in French).
Thankfully I try not to get water/food, and this time I didn't go anywhere near a water/food station and still had some drink in my bottle at the end, but took all my gels.
I use perpetuum and it works for me - I gave up sports drinks in 2014 (with all sugar things) and struggled to find something to give me help along the long runs. This does help me - different flavours, I have strawberry (it takes some getting used to and to get the mix right - but give it a go)
I agree with the pillocks walking/talking/photographing/texting at the 30+ plus mark, I was screaming at the at points, one chap was walking (like John Wayne) along the Blue Line at about 36k - WHY? move over ffs!
