Thanks Nick about the vet detail. (Sorry only just noticed!)
Oops I notice I said I finished in front of a Sevenoaks lady, it was in fact a Larkfield lady as you have in the results. I think she is going to start hating me as I nipped in front of her again last night at the Rye Summer Classic 5K. Hats off to her, I hope I can run as well as her when I'm in my 50's!
Thanks Nick. I loved the course, just the last stretch was not right, being on the main road.
Anyway, so very glad I got out of bed yesterday and made the effort. I had stitch from about 2 1/2 miles (God knows why as I have been running for years and brekkie was at least 2 hours before) which eventually wore off only to come back with a vengence at 4 miles when I wanted to push on and get my pb. For once, I ran through the pain and thought, no pain no gain and was rewarded with a fabulous pb! So very happy
My only other gripe, I forgot to mention earlier (I know, moan, moan, moan...) is the lack of detail on the results, being a Vet I like to know how I got on in relation to the other older ladies out there lol! My dad counted me in as 17th lady but it would have been nice to know if I got in the 1,2,3 of my vet category.
That said, I'm still beaming, it's only been 9 years in the making!
I don't know if there are some people missing as my time on your list is quicker (not that I'm complaining) but it's 11 secs quicker and it seems a lot. I think the ordering is correct as I finished in front of a Sevenoaks lady, which you reflect in the results, but you have me down as 39:35 when my garmin said 39:46 (Bib No 64). I know these race times are tricky but I do wonder if someone above us has been missed out and we should all slot down a tad, but from what point I don't know. I expect it will come to light when someone can't find themselves.
Overall I really enjoyed the race and I smashed my pb by over half a minute and finally after years of running I have gone sub 40, yay! My only criticism is the finish along the main road. Could the race start further back and therefore finish before the main road? My kids (6 & 4) were desperate to run around but couldn't and my husband had a task keeping them safe at the side of the road.
That said, I will be back next year as it is a lovely course and brilliant for pb's
Weather was hot, but a great race and great event. And nice to meet Rick O'Shay too.
Ran it in a respectable 41.16 (or thereabouts) and much better than I thought I would considering the weather. The kids really enjoyed the pony rides and my son was made up it was right next to the riding stables!
A good afternoon had by the whole family. I recommend this event for future years. Very nice medal too
