Glad you've been able to sort a revised route out Brian; the hassle from the Himley Park Ranger is not what you needed at the eleventh hour! That's a really nice guesture about Mark, along with the kind words you have put on DK's site. See you Sunday - hope your camera is now working OK? Oh and keep it dry!!! Steve |

I understand that they stopped runners at Gosford House/from going round Gosford House (?) after a certain time. There are several threads around on the whole issue, here and on Fetch. Interesting - that was the bit I found the toughest as well. But surely you can't change the distance of a course that has been officially measured and has had a permit applied for? Wouldn't hat invalidate the permit to stage the race? My run measured 26.49 miles on my Garmin, which even allowing for the margin of error, seemed to be a bit long. |

Halstead it is then, as long as it's not too hilly and isn't a multi-lap course. Did anybody else read in Monday's Edinburgh Evening News that they supposedly shortened the route for the slowest runners? Somewhere by Gosford House it said. Not sure if that is true though... |

Sorry, Edinburgh, you haven't put me off marathons, just yours!! Assuming that the VLM applications are rejected next year, and people are put off by the Edinburgh Marathon's rather poor organisation, what's left about the same time of the year? I've done the Shakepseare Marathon before, which is OK, but is 2 laps, with most only doing the 1 lap half - not ideal. Any recommendations for next year? I've still got a marathon goal to achieve! P.S. The 'sea haar' descended on Edinburgh on yesterday and it was lovely and cool - sod's law eh?!? |
