Ironwolf - I guess Longest Day on 23 July will also have an impact. Well, the cheque's been cashed now, so that's me and my other half entered anyway.

Good luck long-people and I look forward to becoming long again next year, after this year of middle-distance.

I guess the boring answer is that it's the National Middle Distance Championships at Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire on 9 July 2006. I’ll leave the more imaginative interpretations to others!

Just wondering if anyone's had their cheque cashed for entry to the Beaver triathlon. I entered a few weeks ago but my cheque's not been cashed yet. I can't wait to find out if I've got a place or not!

Thanks LL - I hope I'm with people like you and Dr Nic on Sunday.

Not sure about Lake Zurich, Dave, but Ironman Lanzarote swim is very good - but I'm not starting an IM Lanzo recruitment drive (until the 2006 race!)

On the overtaking in pool-based tris, I'm even more nervous than before about a race I'm doing on Sunday (I'm only doing it to try and help get points for my club for a team comp).

Last year I swore I'd never do another pool-based race. I put down my correct estimated time. When I was tapped on the foot by the bloke behind me I stopped at the end to let him pass. Once he was in front, I tried not to touch his feet as I guessed he would get away from me eventually. Anyway, he didn't and I couldn't help but touch his feet, even when I was shortening my stroke so much it must have looked like I was doing some strange drill.

It was a long swim for a short pool with narrow lanes - about 800m - but he wouldn't let me pass at the end of the pool. Eventually I managed to overtake at a moment when there were only 3 of us in the lane.

Hope this guy's not there on Sunday, and hope you don't me butting in with my moan.
