Caz - Used to enjoy running the Rye series, when the wind isn't blowing that is! I think the Larkfield lady will be tripping you over!

ffRAN - The grandchildren can come down and watch as we will hopefully have the bouncy castle out next year. Look forward to seeing you, should be the same weekend so we will be going head to head with the olympics!

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Caz - That's not a gripe, it should have been on there! I've added it to the results page on the race website.

Hi Pat

Thanks very much for the feedback and nice to hear that you thought that it was an excellent event.

With regard to the points that you have raised, unfortunately the timing equipment used for the event failed, which was completely out of our hands and despite our best efforts it was a case of all hands to the pump.  The fact that we had to use extra people to manually record times subsequently caused a delay in producing the results for the prize giving.  For next year I have no interest in putting our volunteers who give up their time to make the event work, through the same amount of stress, so rest assured that in future the event will be chipped timed.

Toilets - When we took on the event we looked at the previous years numbers and assumed that as new organisers we were unlikely to get many more competitors, in fact probably less.  Entries before the event pretty much confirmed this and as they were always slightly ahead of last year but not by much, toilets were not an issue.  On the day we had an amazing 66 entries, so more than a third of the field entered on the day!  That's high by anyone’s standards and as we had no prior indication of this, very difficult to manage.  I completely agree with Caz's earlier comments regarding the course and for this reason the race will be rerouted next year.  I believe that the race has now outgrown the current course and the finish in particular has become a cause for concern.  Unfortunately as the course is certified and measured we are unable to just move the start and finish, so the only option left is to reroute.   The new course will take away the option of using the public toilets near this years start, so clearly we have an issue that needs to be resolved.

Results - Apart from moan at the company that hosts the race website or change to a new company there isn't a lot I can do.  I started trying to post the results at around 1pm yesterday but was unable to due to the issues they were experiencing.  This morning at 7am when the website was still not available I temporarily posted the results elsewhere (link is earlier in the forum).  The domain hosts finally resolved their issues at around 10am today (I know the time because I was checking every 5 mins) and I posted the results then.

Female showers - No defence here, in hindsight I should have posted a note on the website and emailed all female competitors who had pre-entered.  However, I would just like to point out that whilst the lady in question showered in the gents a guard was posted on the door!

Look forward to seeing you next year.

Hi Karen

Website is now back up.  Got some changes planned for next years event and I think a new domain host will be one of them!

I did find some unmarked medals which I pulled out so will be taking that up with our supplier.  If you got an unmarked one I can send you out an engraved one just let me know.

 Glad you enjoyed the race!
