My gosh - where did the last year go ??
Le Mans 2006 has been and gone. I have been off running for nearly 5 months due to injury - gained so much weight - lost so much fitness and motivation !!
Just back doing short 4 mile runs - hoping the knees will hold up against the oesteo arthritis diagnosed in Feb. How are you all doing - Mel you look fab - the ironman obviously suiting you ! - boyfriend still running ??
Seabird - great that you are doing PBs - lucky bird ! Are you well ??

Jan jan - welcome ! - yes those routes you speak of are great.

Would be nice to talk again !

Rob

Join me in the conumdrum ! - I have osteo arthritis in my knee and have been told to stop high impact running - this is very sad as I really enjoy my running.

The way the consultant put it was that the running will speed the onset of more dibilitating arthritis until I reach the stage of needing a knee replacement. These only last about 10 -15 years before needing to be re-done. After a few of these, they become more difficult to do and less effective afterwards and (presumably) take longer and longer t recover from, but the end result is generally that they reach a point where they won't be able to do one - outcome !! - wheelchair I suppose.

I think the math adds up and I probably will have to find another sport to keep fit with. Maybe its time you were doing the same !!!!

Due to early stages of osteo arthritis in my knee, my consulant has just told me not to run anymore and it is quite hard to take. The best he could offer as a compromise was to suggest running only on grass - but where do you find 10 miles of decent grass to run on without going around in boring circles for ever ??!

It would be pretty easy I suppose to find someone to say that he (the consultant) is wrong and that running is not a problem, but then, who do you believe. I desperately don't want to give up running. Has anyone got any advice on this. I don't really want to be a total cripple in my old age !!!, but then I do want to live life a little too !!!

I'm in but sadly injured and will probably be so for a while to come - so I am going to have to defer until 2007.

I am also going to have to reject my two 1/2 marathon places that I already have - which is a real bummer - I am putting weight on and getting unfit so quick its criminal.

I just hope the knee recovers (could be arthritis - have a Baker's cyst).

Fan tanny tastic is what I say !!!

Great photo - she looks the business. I always found it a shame when she turned up for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award is that awful outfit with the skirt that was far too short - the picture in the mag puts that memory to bed once and for all !!

Rock on Paula.
