Science in Sport Go Gel
Posted: 16/07/12
'Yuk dont like'
Strengths:
gels are easier to digest when running. I cant breathe eat chew swallow etc. Have taught myself to sip water whilest runing and can squeeze gel in mouth
Weaknesses:
Horrid taste. Have tried most gels - some thick some thin, most taste yuk and often repeat on you later in run. Persevered with orage luzcozage gel as FLM used them in 2010. However now found a gel I like (well can get on with) - Hi 5 - lime flavour and summer fruit flavour. Also not big ammount so able to consume it all.
Overall:
Try different products and find what suits you. Downside to gels - packaging to get rid of or carry. Beans or choclate melt in hands!

'Great gadget but does have little problems'
Strengths:
Keep track of where you went, distance, speed, height gains.
Easy to transfer data to computer
Weaknesses:
Too sensitive - coat sleeve keeps activating the bezel and changing the screen.
If you get water on it / rain then it stops functioning or freezes on GPS screen which I wasn't using
screen small to read when running
Bulky watch - had to cut sleeve in order to get it over watch.
Screen sometimes freezes - have to wait for battery to run out.
strap broke after 1yr
difficult to change screens
Overall:
I like the idea but get frustrated when the screen freezes or changes when I don't want it to. London marathon another runner bumoed my arm switching it to gps and I couldn't get it back, so know idea pace running or distace
