Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7
Posted: 08/11/11
'No where as good as the previous shoe'
Strengths:
Same price as before
Weaknesses:
Feel much bigger across the fore foot. Heel collar is way higher than before which rubs my ankles. Doesn't feel as responsive as version 6 of this shoe of which I had two pairs.
Overall:
Having used versions 5 and 6 of this shoe I have no idea why a winning formula was played around with. It may explain why some retailers appear to have stopped stocking this model. Hopefully version 8 will see a return to form. In the meantime I will be hunting down old stocks of version 6.

Mizuno Wave Harrier

'Excellent with loads of grip'
Strengths:
Will handle anything you can throw at them in terms of off road. Very light and great fit
Weaknesses:
You'd be insane to use them on road unless you like sore ankles and knees
Overall:
I've just used these at the Turbo X and they were simply great. Loads of grip, very light and very comfortable even when soaked right through. I pronate so was pleased at how the little support did hold up. In contrast to the Salomon 3D Ultras that I have used for Turbo X before, the Harriers win by miles.

'A great motion control with good fit fit and comfort.'
Strengths:
Hard wearing in comparision to my Asics which always go through the toe box after a couple of months. Manage motion control without adding too much extra weight.
Weaknesses:
If you have any knee pain motion control shoes will make it worse due to the firm nature of the shoe, but this isn't specific to just this shoe i.e. you'll get it with all motion control makes.
Overall:
Very happy with this shoe and overall with Mizuno. Sorry Asics - I've found a new love.

'SPEND THE EXTRA FIVER TO GET KAYNOS.'
Strengths:
Claims to aid forefoot overpronation and slight;ly cheaper than Kayano
Weaknesses:
Does not help with forefoot overpronation!!!!
Overall:
These shoes did nothing for my overpronation and became my gym shoes for the rest of their use. Spend the extra fiver and get the Keyano's.

'VERY POOR'
Weaknesses:
Not a good shoe for the price. Bad for over pronation.
Overall:
Sold to me as a step below Kayano's with support and cushioning.... I can laugh about it now.

'SAME OLD SAME OLD'
Strengths:
A great show with support and comfort in mind.
Weaknesses:
Toe box mesh prone to wearing through very quickly as with previous models. Reduced to cutting up old shoes to repair the mesh area above the big toe on both shoes. Same problem with previous models and known to Asics, yet nothing done to fix the issue.
Overall:
A great show if you can tolerate having holes in the front of the tow box and paying £110 for it.

'JUST OK...'
Strengths:
Taste
Weaknesses:
Expected more from a big brand name
Overall:
This never seems to deliver what you would expect for long runs and there is no noticable benefit compared to other makes.
