'A SHOE WITH A CONFORTABLE FIT AND A CUSHIONED RIDE'
Strengths: The shoes were comfy from the off. The uppers had a nice fit to them secure, but not tight. I found the cushioning good, (as 13st runner) I had the 2e wider fit pair as I wair orthotics. They seem fine with ortho's. Very airy around the toe, although I would imagine this gets cold in winter. A good solid shoe, does what it says it will.
Weaknesses: I have found the gel in the ball of the foot can push into the foot slightly. I can feel it under the pad of my foot. This maybe because I've taken out the cushy inserts to put in my harder orthotics. Although someone else in my running commented the same. It's not caused me a problem yet (I've done 8 miles in them on my longest run with them so far.)
Overall: All in all a nice fitting and cushioned shoe, that seems light to wear, keep your feet cool in summer and I would get another pair.
I never know how to rate value, can any pair of shoes be value, when you're paying £70.00 for something that probably costs £10 to make!
'GOOD SOLID MID/HIGH MILEAGE TRAINER FOR MILD OVERPRONATOR'
Strengths: I found the 1100 a little narrow in the forefoot. The 1110 seems to have cured this, or at least moved the stitching! A good cushioned shoe for the heavier runner (13st) Fairly light as well.
Weaknesses: None really. Perhaps not the best traction off road.
[Update 21/04/06] Having worn these for a few weeks I've found I've started getting pains in my knees and hips. There is no doubt these are not just a tweak of previous models but a diferent shoe in terms of stability and feel.
Overall: A good shoe which will do the biz off road. The other shoe I sometimes use is a Saucony Grid Omni 4 or 5. These are simlar, but Saucony are heavier and I think, less responsive.
[Update 21/04/06] I think the shoe is fine and fits well and is responsive. Having said that, I'm having to go back to Saucaony as they are causing me problems as described. Don't be fooled into thinking they are the same as earlier versions they're not! A good shoe but try before you buy!
Strengths: The shoes fits very comfortably. There's plenty of room in the toebox and the heel grips your heel and stops any slippage. The cushioning is excellent and would suit heavier runners as well as the lighter. It seems to last as well. I used to be a fan of Asics until I tried these.
Weaknesses: None really. My big toe has worn a hole in the sock liner at the front of the shoe. (I used to do that on the ASICS as well)
Overall: An excellent shoe with good traction for moderate off road as well.
