Kingston Run Challenge

It was definitely soggy!

I don't really see why the organisers can't make a lap closer to 8 miles, there are plenty of options along Hampton Court Way to add the extra 0.15...then there would be no complaints over distance! (just the price, goody bag, loos, etc...)

Running streak

I've done the naked 5k for 9 years running - so meets both definitions of a running streak!

"4 downward line underneath" - perhaps your number is 1111?

Registration Fees

Posted: 11/10/2012 at 13:42

I'm not sure UKA have thought this through - such an increase will invariably lead to less registrations. Currently all of our club members are registered out of their membership fee. I reckon that if we gave members the option, over half would not pay as they are not regular racers (less than half have participated in a race in 2012), hence UKA's income from our club would fall.

Nice - Cannes Marathon 2011

Wow, great couple of reports there, SilkTork and Rebecca. Such a shame about the strict cut off, but glad you enjoyed it.

It was a beautiful course, but warmer than I was hoping for. The organisation seemed very good, the French do provide great refreshments at events (not just water and sports drink but coke, bananas, oranges, sugar, raisins, etc. at most of the feed stations). Love having KM signs, seems to go much quicker than Miles(!). Finish was a bit tight and congested (not helped by relay teams jumping in and joining their last runner for the final 100m together).

Having not done anywhere near enough training, went for a slower pace than normal and got slower as it got hotter (the stretch alongside the railway from 17-22km was tough) but was pleased to stay running all the way and am surprised I can almost walk normally already!
