Farnham Pilgrim Half Marathon

Posted: 28/08/2014 at 20:47

Lucky you. I've wanted to do the Pilgrim half for ages.

Buster is a nice hill. If you can run up that I'm sure you can run up anything.

South Downs half isn't the toughest of halfs by a long way. Though I think being familiar with a route makes it easier. I don't think you'll have any problem with the Pilgrim half judging by where you train.

I'm with you on the crisps bookie. Far too fond of crisps for my own good. Same with bread and pastry.

David could also eat an entire battenburg all by himself if need be.

Every year we talk about hibernating. About time we actually worked out how it's done. Times like this, you know the doormouse has got it sussed.

New Runner, pain in top of foot

Posted: 26/08/2014 at 10:17

When I had a stress fracture I couldn't weight bare on that foot. Couldn't even stand. Not saying it isn't a stress fracture as mine came about during a race in which I struck a large rock underfoot rather hard. (Then kept on running, as you do).

If it is a stress fracture, continuing to run is a no no. You can walk on it though. You will need to get yourself to your GP and get an x-ray. Unfortunately stress fractures don't always show up too well on x-ray.

If it isn't a stress fracture it could be an injury to the tendons. This isn't good news. Any injury will take several weeks to heel. Doesn't really matter what it is. I was out 12 weeks with my stress fracture and a similar time for an inflamed tendon in my foot.

It goes by quickly and you'll soon get back into it. Running on an injury will only prolong or prevent recovery. Not sensible.

Switch to Nike Free 5.0

People have done both and I've read arguments for both.

I just ditched my 'normal' trainers as they were causing me too many problems.I guess you just need to do what is right for you.

Virtual gf sausage rolls, flapjacks and battenburgs. Though flapjack should be gf anyway.

It's raining. Well of course it is, it's bank holiday monday.

I'm tired and my arm hurts. I'd like to be fast asleep but I'm not. I'm awake. boo hoo.

I find this to be very mundane.

My Last Run

Posted: 12/08/2014 at 20:58

Ran today, about 5 miles. It wasn't pretty, I had to stop for a breather but I ran. No pain from the shoulder bar a little jarring but that is something I'm going to have to get used to.

Can't wait til I can cycle again. May take another three months.

Where is your favourite place to run?

Posted: 12/08/2014 at 20:54

Because I live so close to it, the South Downs. Where I am there are fields and forests and woods. Lots of hills and amazing views.

Elevation maps.

Ordnance Survey.
bikehike.

mapmyrun elevation data is pants, still miles out. I wouldn't use it.
