Garmin 305 or iPhone Runkeeper App?

I use the app 'run meter' which I find does all I need - pace, speed, whether faster or slower over old routes etc etc. Excellent value for just over a quid!

Long runs

Thanks for all the advice so far guys. Glad I've got long enough to build up for this

. Another factor I'll need to take into acount is that the half is reasonably flat but the marathon has quite a lot of 'rolllers' !

Just glad the South Downs and Ashdown Forest are close by for training!

Long runs

I'm aiming to do a particular race in the States in October next year, and one of the challenges they have is to run a half marathon and marathon on consecutive days over the weekend.

I was just wondering how to prepare for this, particularly regarding long runs etc. I aim to run under 4.5 hours in the marathon.

So there was I, a lapsed runner due to injury, laziness, relationship breakup etc etc, having a ciggie after watching the VLM, and suddeny had the is crazy idea to run Boston 2011 (if the money works out!) and London!

Signed up to the local gym in Uckfield, and discovered Ive got high blood pressure. Membership postponed, and am now on week one of the beginners schedule!

AND six days without a cigarette!

May I join your merry band?

I was just wondering...

So as a completely lapsed runner (for all sorts of reasons).....I was sat watching the VLM this morning, and wondered if it would be a good challenge to attempt the 'big two' next April.....Put loads of weight on, back on the cigs, coming out of a messy breakup...sounds like a good idea. Got details of the local gym today, and been checking out training routes near my new home....Game on!

Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon

I found it via the TW Half website I think.

Re the hill, I'll be ready for it by then. Just need to do some long hilly runs, rather than the soft option of running along the seafront down here all the time. Handy for wading in the sea afterwards, and having the rather exceptional coffee at my local cafe though!

Ive been on the good run guide and had a look at the route. That climb looks a bit scary, but at least the rest of the route is relatively ok. One of my patients lives just off the route in Langton Green, and I quite often take her for a long walk up to Mount Ephraim. Good cross training!
