JaneyH - Thanks, I needed that!! And you are correct I was feeling VERY bad about Monday and Tuesday and that maybe affected me. Again you are correct re trying to be the runner I was 10 years ago, running means so much to me and I would give anything to go back 10 years knowing what I know now and stick in at my passion and I am sure I could have got near a 3:15 marathon. But I have to accept I am 56 and although I can still run and enjoy it, its never going to be the same.

But I KNOW I shouldn't be missing 3 consistant days and that annoyed me. I do run the same distance most days and same pace, need to mix it up but ever since I started running been mileage obsessed - must have a note of every run I ever done and distance/time. You seem to be doing well in the Gym but come back slowly, make sure your right as I am sure you will

B2B - Nah not on diet, in fact stuffing my face with chocolate !! that's gotta stop !!

JR - Yup something new needed

Now for the good bit !! What a difference a day makes !! (24 little hours, as someone once sang!!) 5.4 miles 9.27 pace and a record for this course and felt great !! So maybe I shouldn't let one day, one bad run get to me !!

JR - Love the story re ending up in a garden lol !!!!! Robert good miles mate Someone on either this or another forum used to say, when encouraging others in training or a race "and remember don't be shit!!" Well today I was shit Why oh why do I do it? Sat I run a fairly comfortable 8.65, had Sunday as a rest day, Monday and Tuesday, due to laziness I didn't run. Today I go out for a wanted 6, got to 2 miles so tired and crap I stopped dead. Carried on for 5 so slow was overtaken by every other runner out and possibly by a few snails. So hard at moment. Really hard to motivate myself after that. Also need to shift a stone or so I need consistency and 3 days without running is not it -

B2B - My lonest run is 8 miles at the moment and will be doing 8 this weekend. Would be nice to get to 11 before I go away

JaneyH - good to see you on and doing the sensible thing and getting down the gym. To be honest am not following a plan but I always did for marathons, well doing the long runs on schedule anyway !! Think I will build up to 11 miles before I go away and look after, hopefully a schedule will have me at less than 11 with about 7 weeks to go (from when I come back from hols) and I could follow that. Don't worry your not teaching me to suck eggs !! believe me I have never trained properly and regret it now sure I could have broke 3.30 when I was running more seriously about 10 years ago

Well, today seemed tired despite not running yesterday, decided still to go but at a slower pace, so 5.39 miles at a pedestrian 10.06 pace. Maybe make 80 miles this month with a bit of luck Next run Saturdays 8

Disappointed today as work conspired against me and didn't get out, maybe just as well after yesterday and the day will do me good hopefully.

11 weeks tomorrow I go away on my hols, between now and then the running is going to be very miles orientated, feel I need the miles in my legs for my half in October. Back from hols on 20/8 but bound to put weight on the hols so going to get the miles in now as only about 6/7 weeks after I get back before half

5.59 miles for me today 54 odd mins

Putting in the miles but still feels like hard work at a slowish pace. Half way round today was ready to just stop but soldiered on, run did get better

Grendel - nice to see you on and hope you calf gets sorted soon. I would even dream of stating the National XC you done well seems a bloody hard course

JR - Good luck with the 15 !!

I was out this AM at 8:45 decided to do 7.5 but pushed on for an out and back 7.98 same course as last week beautifull route. Found I was holding pace well and turning at half way concentrated on form and holding the pace, good run confidence builder
