The guy actually rang today which gave me a chance to grill him with questions having studied the which reports and numerous sites.

Basically they are "Free" paid for by a loan the company get from Barclays, I get nothing from the feed in tariff (which does exists but is much less than years ago), they get that to pay off the loan so basically I save about £120 a year. I will get it after about 6 years when the loans paid off.

Reading about all the hassle of a 20 year guarantee where they basically own your roof space, wasn't worth the hassle to me. Interesting thing if my roof needed repairs and the panels had to be taken down I would owe them money for loss of income !!

Same approach to me then Grendel !!

Mummy - thing is I couldn't see how this guy was going to fit over 7k worth of panels FREE and I make money? Turns out that they get a loan from Barclays then I pay it back for them with the feed in tarrif of electricity that would be mine if I bought them. So in essence I get about £120 a year out of it and only get electricity when its light as the system doesn't store energy (in other words you generate electricity in daylight, if it isn't used as its generated it goes back as the feed in tarrif for them to profit from it so as most people are at work during most of daylight hours you don't use the energy you generate they get the profit). Also they own the roof space for 20 years and if the panels have to come down to repair roof you pay THEM for THEIR lost revenue. In other words a rip off - even if you pay for them yourself it would take nearly 10 years to re coup your outlay. Rant Over

Well 4.45 today in around 45 mins again. Sore left lower back going down through bum into hamstring and calf tight clicking feeling from inside left kness. Shoot me now !!

AG - you have lost me with the science, I just go out and run !!!

Good going B2B

JR sorry haven't read back but what prize did you win and go you !!!!!

Right day off today so going out for a run - will be just the usual slow not so far plod but hey it all counts to getting the weight off and one run nearer the Great Scottish half next year !!

Got some bloke coming round tonight thanks to the wife who wont say no to any salesman who knocks on our door. Wants me to have solar panels on the roof to save about 20p a year !! Says its all free we don't pay a penny yeah right. My first question : If it costs me nothing to have big panels on my roof and a team of men taking all day putting them up whats in it for you? How do you make money?

First run back for me after about 14 weeks, 4.45 in 46:03 so quite happy with that

Running for me is fun tough at times but still fun, what classes as fun I guess is different from person to person. Certainly made me feel better pulling on the trainers again today !!

Hi all

Well, things have moved on here but I guess I haven't posted for a good while, maybe 3 months?

Havent been out at all and when I did plan to go out badly pulled a calf muscle but finally getting out tomorrow for what I know will be a slow comeback yet again. I wont be doing London as no way will I be ready but I have signed up for the Great Scottish Half even if it isn't until September/October 2015 !!

You all seem to be doing well and have missed posting so will be back now. Its been difficult as moving has now seen me back working in the office so fitting runs in is difficult but determined to get back into it starting tomorrow

Will catch up with you all in future posts, see there are some "new" folks since I posted last but I guess that makes me "new" as well. Welcome to you all, this is a great thread to hang out

Looking forward to reading and catching up over next few days
