The Liversedge Half-Marathon

Good comments ES.  Hopefully everyone understands how hard it is to organise a race.  The weather was kind to us in the end and it was a great event!  Well done.

Looking forward to it too.  Hoping for "sleet" not snow.  It's my first HM and I've picked a hilly one!!

Hoping the weather holds out for Sunday - forecast is sleet at the moment!

Looking for a relay triathlon

Posted: 01/01/2013 at 18:55

Have you looked at the "First of the Summer Tri" in Holmfirth.  It's usually on in April (and then again in October).

I've done it (solo, not relay) and it's a good event, well organised.

GPS Watch

I invested in a Garmin 405CX.  I really like it but I use it mostly for looking at the stats after a run.  I haven't managed to use it to pace myself etc yet, probably because even though it's a relatively large watch I find it hard to read the info while I'm running.  However, I am sure with a bit more practice I will get used to it. I've only had it about a month.

My husband keeps pinching it for his bike rides though!

I'd definately recommend it.

The 10th Great Grizedale Forest Trail 10

There's a spelling mistake in the link. Make sure it's grizedale and not grizedlae....

Do you do any yoga?

Posted: 04/03/2012 at 08:37
I try and fit a yoga session in every week (it's actually a class called "Body Balance) - usually on a Sunday at my local sports centre. It also forces me not to run so I use it as a bit of an enforced rest day even though the poses are quite challenging. It makes my week of exercise feel more balanced.

Parkrun age bands

I use Parkrun to run against myself. It's my PB's and increase on last week that count, not what age bracket I'm in or who in that age bracket I beat. Since starting (about a year ago), I've knocked 6 minutes off my time. Also, I love the community spirit at Parkrun. Hope you carry on Nykie. I am a VW45-49.

Lock Laces

Posted: 01/03/2012 at 18:59

Just used them in my trail shoes for the first time and loved them. They were secure all the way round and very easy to adjust when I realised they were a bit tight.

The reason I bought the Lock laces was that the original laces in my shoes were only just long enough to tie a bow so I wasn't confident that they'd stay tied for long.

Slow 5km for me - took a friend out with me. Enjoyed it nonetheless.
