Ironman Uk 2015 who's in?

Posted: 20/07/2015 at 18:13

hello...people...i'd love to do a race report but i'm too tired...as you might know mrsB was racing too yesterday..i was a few minutes ahead in the swim...few more after the bike and she caught me up about 10 miles into the run...then...to my delight we finished it together...it was amazing.

it was a really tough day out there....made so amazingingly better by wearing a pirate top...i've never ever known support like it just because i had that shirt on...i wont race without it again and i thank you all.

we are now chorleys answer to steven and bella bayliss....only a bit slower

Thanks

Hey guys i've registered....number 1767...i dont have a pirate t-shirt but i will say hello to any i see at the briefing this afternoon.

quick question...where is the pirate support? i heard 57 and 99 miles...so i think thats around mawdsley back towards standish...but not sure (i doubt i'll miss you anyway though...i've heard SA shouting before)

this came from a pirate a couple of years ago and i always loved it...seems apt to post it here and is better than good luck

Have a great race. Love your day. You've probably trained harder than you ever have, gone out in sun, wind, rain, snow.

You will have done things you wouldn't have thought possible, covered distances inconcievable.

You will have fought of all kinds of problems, experienced gut wrenching moments of doubt and come through them to find yourself standing in transition, in the dark, sick to the pit of your stomach.

But at some point, during all the miles and all the months, something, somewhere will have changed.

Somewhere inside you is a voice that says 'No. I will not stop. I will not give in. I will go on'.

That's the ironman you have made. That's the ironman you are. Just show everyone, your friends, your family, your fellow competitors what you already know - you are an ironman

Show the the world. Show us you are ironmen. Love your race.

hey guys, long time no speak,,,,soz i've not been around...i travel loads with my job now so thats taken over a bit...sounds like you all know what you are doing tho.....training for me has gone ok...i did 2 laps on friday last week....swam 2k at the flash monday and my running is going ok.

shas...too late for a 16 mile run...forget that it wont do you any good now...go out on your bike again instead.

the key to this race is finishing the bike in a decent state...its no good being able to run 16 miles if you cant walk when you get to T2

the run will be whatever it is on the day so dont fret....take the last couple of weeks to ride smooth and strong...chuck in a bit of running (i wont do any more than 10k) and a bit of swimming and you will be ok.....its now time to throttle back...you've done the hard miles now....any more wont do you any good.

see you in 2 weeks or so

Bkool trainer

I've got one....its really good to be honest....i've not yet been able to use the new version of the software cause i've been riding outdoors but heres my opinion.

as a Turbo.....its not cheap...but it is brilliant.....your weight keeps the wheel down which kind of forces you to stay seated....thats a good thing for effective training....the resistance is very good and when it goes up a steep bit....its very tough....so no problems there.

the previous software was good too...it links up using ant+ so you can use cadence,HR devices etc (upto 8 i think)...and you had options of 3d using google earth that showed you the route (even land marks) you could have 2d using just ride profile or there are videos but you need to be online for them to work.

only downside i found was that if i created a route using mapmyride or google earth....although in the webpage it would show the elevation changes they never transfered to the gpx file i imported to bkool.....but rides imported from your garmin that you have done work just fine.

all in all its a really good turbo trainer and the software is good.....theres even an ipad version now but i'm not sure how that links up to the trainer....i'll have to try it out.

get one...they are good
