Another week gone, disaster of a training week. Chest infection so just done a couple of small runs and turbo sessions no swimming. Hoping to be back into the swing very soon.

Was going allright, until man flu appeared onThursday. Distance wise upto a slow 10 miles run, longest swim ever last week of 2.5 km swim(100 lengths) very very slow Bike just doing some turbo sessions 1.5 hrs long.

Thanks for your very kind offer which I will take you up on if you really don't mind.
Haven't swam open water yet and shall we say swimming is not my best discipline, not to good at biking or running as well????.
I'm about 40 minute drive from the lakes so close enough.

Will do,
even though I do 10 day shifts I usually finish around 4pm so plenty of day light left to do some long sessions.
The hardest bit so far has been to learn to swim but distance wise over a mile now. I'm guessing it's a huge difference swimming outside than in a pool, I do get bored just going up and down the pool.
Another thing I will need to learn is how to pace the bike. I hear that the outlaw bike course is flat , while I'm used to the undulations. Guess I've got 6 months to find out.

Hello all,
First timer here. Ran a few marathons last one being Snowdon in 2013, had no plans after that so purchased a bike, then last year learned to swim.
So for my 50th this year decided to enter.
Sort of following fink but have to adapt it a little around work (10 day shifts) and family life.
Looking to do a couple of sportives along the way and maybe the Cotswolds 113.
Excited and nervous at the same time.
Oh and only swam in a pool so far. Have to purchase or hire a wetsuit so reading reviews at the moment.
Any advice welcomed.

Just getting into tri, after a few years of running , 1st tri end of August and looking for an ironman distance race next year not to worried about the brand name.
I would be very interested in Wild Wills suggestion of the actual training plan instead of a training plan.
Will the website be available for all or just members/pirates?

Pisd taking Is always a good idea, usually aimed at myself.

Good evening all

Yvonne - many congrats again.

lynneem - Seems like you've got a good amount of fitness, a half shouldn't be such a big problem, build your long distances up slowly at a pace that you can/ could hold a conversation, no need to worry about intervals yet especially if your running lots of hills.

Price of races can be a deemed expensive, if you factor In everything like road closures policing etc it is understandable, have a look at the prices for ironman races. Price of trainers is another thing though always buy last years model.

B&T - hope the organisers can sort out the errors from the trail run. Sounds like you ran it well though.

Been doing more running again and keeping the swimming up, however managed to go for a 30 mile bike ride today, just had a look for new routes for next spring
A bit of caution for you all if your on a bike don't get going down long steep hills trying to break the speed record cause just around the corner there is another long steep hill that you have to go up.

Evening all,

Some great training going on.

Em - great race I'm sure a sub 60 is not far away.

BT - I've got a turbo trainer for those dangerous days and dark nights hard to do over an hour on it though, but great for speed training. Sounds like some nice 10k races.

Well after a long time of biking and a bit of swimming, with the darker nights training will be more running and swimming focused. Monday swam, Tuesday easy 5 mile run and tonight a 10 mile run swim tomorrow & run Friday won't be doing much over the weekend wife's b'day.
