GULP just entered my first half marathon

Evening All,

LOL B&T, with the toe strap Ive got the clips and that can be a bit worrying coming to junctions etc.

Mel - well done on the tready and good luck with the walking boots.

Toby - enjoy the taper.

had a good weeks training 4 running & two bikes all short though upto 7 miles running and 30 on the bike.

B&T - Dont be afraid off drop handle bars, i tend to ride on the hoods most of the time. Well done on the 3rd in age category.

Another run tonight must be careful of not overdoing it (ha! ha!) just keeping it short and easy for now and building up a base.

Good evening all,

Looks like marathon training is coming to an end and taper madness will start.

nice to hear injury troubles are getting better.

Had quite a productive week 4 runs only short and a real nice bike ride today,  my eye seems to be ok just taking each day at a time, wrist pains from the broken veins are 80% better and im starting to feel like training seriosly again,  any good races to aim for in the next 16 or so weeks?  off to look for a sportive to sign up to.

Morning All,

Well 6 miles this morning first bit of exercise since 17th Dec - great for clearing the head,  I have lost so much fitness last year, not to worry will get it back slowly. Just having a cup of tea and then on the turbo for a bit.

Nice to hear trainings going well for most, Im sure you will be O.K Toby, and injuries are improving,  really glad im not training for one or two marathons with the weather we are having.

good evening all,

Sorry to be away for such a long time, have had a real s**t time of it lately not done much biking or running may go for a jog tomorrow.

In the few weeks since just before xmas I have had flu, infected eye (may need surgery on) bust all my veins in my wrist, someone broke an ankle at work, another lad had a motorbike crash and may not be able to get to work again, just to round things off a good friend of mine lost his battle with cancer last night. 

Anyhow will catch up soon have got my running gear ready for morning, but not really in the best of minds for a run.

Merry Xmas,

had a touch of flu for the last few days - getting better now though.

Mel - I'm sure you didnt overstretch before running,  a fine art of which I have not mastered.

Any big plans for 2014 anybody.  Mine bike a 100  mile sportiff, a marathon or two and to be able to swim non stop for 1/2 hour,   not on the same day yet

Mel - Hope your calf is feeling better,  be careful not to stretch to much before a run.

Toby - thought you may of had another in marathon in mind especially that you are pacing your daughter.

Busy time of year to fit in much running etc, nice 6 miles tonight though.

Toby - are you planning to run another marathon as well as Brighton? Good on you for running with your family you must be very proud.

Mel,  I really enjoyed Snowdon it maybe tough however the views and camaraderie make up for it, however not one for a PB.  Yes noticed the hardcore are just posting.  Good luck with Bath half marathon hopefully it will all fill into place.  I see your enjoying the free training with Cirencester AC.

Another run tonight beautiful evening night 5.5 miles done finding a goodish hill to get up.

Hi All,

just had a quick read up seems like everyones PBed at 10K and half marathon distances so a big well done.

I see Marathon training's started.

Meself - had the summer of running but did a lot of cycling and after logging onto garmin connect to download all my data I noticed that I've overdone the running,  having run once in Sept, once in Oct, managed two runs in Nov, so got up today it was either a bike ride or a run and decided on a run managed a fairly comfortable 6 miles at 9 M/M.   Not done to much swimming - have looked into adult classes etc and not to worried yet.  Looking at a couple of cycling sportives next year and doing a couple of marathons with Snowdon being very much in my plans.
