Half-marathon - peaking too soon

Posted: 30/07/2014 at 22:46

Hi, I did my first half earlier this year and based on my experience your training seams to be going well. If I could give you one piece of advise which may go against the gain with some runners........ do the distance at least once before in training.  I only trained to 11 mile and when I got to that point during the race I found going on another 2 miles much, much harder than I expected. If you have ran the distance in training physiologically you know during the race you will get round, no matter how hard it gets when you hit the wall. Best of luck

If you can, stay over in a premier inn from around 29 quid onwards. For me it's a little treat for the weeksof training I have put in and helps me chill out before a race  / wind down afterwards. Either way enjoy.

No, they only advertisd water so fair enough......... it for me would be a minimum expectation and prevents runners having to carry gels etc with them. Its like going for a meal and having to take your own knife and fork.

Ran the blackpool half marathon on Sunday. I was shocked that there was no isotoinic drink / energy gels etc for the marathon runners. There was only water given for both half and full marathon runners. I can understand water only for the half but for the marathon I think this is unfair. I also spoke with a number of experianced runners who questioned the official times claiming the time was 2 mins out. Thoughts anyone ?

Hello all

Had to pull up today on my long run with pain under my left foot between little toe and the heel. The pain was unreal. There is not much muscle their. Has anyone experienced this. And what can I do about it. I am now limbing to walk.

This has probably been asked several times and I realize that a lot of it is down to personally choice etc but I am looking for some new trainers. I currently use new balance due to them having wide fitting. Anyone  recommend any trainers.
