Bristol to Bath Marathon 2015

I am in! Hopefully get partner or daughter to be at finish! Sounds like legs will be screaming after those hills!

Safe to run a marathon with high blood pressure?

Posted: 17/06/2015 at 15:48
This sounds so familiar! I have white coat (which is still a worry as it is STILL raised bp) and my readings would indicate that I should pop to hospital and not run the marathons, half marathons etc......but I do and my readings drop quite dramatically (as those from Rick do). Running does me good and I have convinced myself that being quite a hyperactive person with good cholesterol levels, non smoker, non diabetic and very slim that my chances of becoming unwell or having a cardio vascular incident are slight (my doctor agrees). Too many doctors look at one factor only....

Wolverhampton to Birmingham along the canal, taking train to canal basin in Wolverhampton from New Street, running to Gas Street basin, having drinks and food watching runners come in. Early July: search BBCHM. PS I live in Bournville and get train from Selly Oak....its fab! Time trial, not race as you set off in ones or twos due to narrowness of route!

Indigestion during long run and feeling sick afterwards

Peter: this is a huge issue for me as well and making me nervous doing another marathon. I have done various times over 5 marathons but last three have been horrible in last 4 miles and for rest of day. I could hardly get any water down let alone food! I always have bland breakfast if porridge, possibly banana or bagel just before race and then jelly babies and small amount of water every mile. Have you sorted your tum???

Mablethorpe 2014 anyone?

My best two marathons (2013) were 3:49:10 and 3:45:40. This could be my last chance to go under 3:45! Is anyone else doing this? Or has anyone done it? The course is meant to be very flat...is it??

Liverpool Rock n Roll Marathon anyone?

My OH tried to convince me the cat was sleeping!! I asked him if he would sleep in the gutter with a few thousand runners thudding past!

Serious Heartburn-like symptoms

Posted: 27/05/2014 at 15:57

I have been searching the internet for an explanation.....I have done 4 marathons and the last two have been very painful during last 5/6 miles with the discomfort continuing last sunday at liverpool for the rest of the day and evening. I couldn't eat and could only sip coke which was very disappointing!  Times were 3:45 and 4:39 and I fuelled and hydrated exactly the same for all marathons......it makes me wonder what I can do to avoid this severe heartburn. Unlike Lee Anna, mine only comes on after about 20 miles......
