You say your last 20 miler was 8.50 pace, was all your long runs this fast? That's 20secs quicker per mile quicker than your start marathon pace yesterday? What I'm saying is have you burned yourself out before even getting to marathon day?

Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Hi guys, still like to check here to see what's happening. Well Manchester marathon next Sunday for me and looking forward to it. Training has went well and did a HM in March in 1.32.58 so got good confidence for a sub 4 marathon.

Glad to hear you're running well pip andI'll try the ballot again, might be six time lucky!!

Me I would like it overcast, cool and even wouldn't mind a light drizzle. Hate running when the sun is out even if it's no particularly warm.

Missed training tonight, just don't seem to have the energy for it.

Sadly think it comes down to councils cost cutting and and public services tend to suffer.

Thanks guys, thought I would check it out, it's actually my daughter who was keen to do one somewhere different and I would plod around at the back. I'll have a think about it.

Alanb- yes Tom Scott yesterday. Good race and amazed they fitted 10 miles into Strathclyde park! I didn't race it and did it in just under 75 mins but slow first 5 then upped it in second half and did 2nd half 5 mins quicker than first half. Great day for it, got pretty warm. Couple miles before and after for 14 enjoyable miles.
