Good luck on your journey Big Phil.
As many have said consistency is the key with training. Better to be doing regular sessions that gradually build in terms of time and effort, rather than trying to go all out and getting injured, having to stop training, getting disillusioned and comfort eating.
Get your diet under control early, and the training will be easier and more productive.
I'm down to 16 stone (from nearly 20 stone at my peak)and have my first Ironman on Sunday.
