Minni - Sorry to see you are still struggling with the calf niggle. Hope you get it sorted soon as I can't imagine how frustrating it must be.

Col - Well done on what sounds like a perfectly executed HM plan.

Spoons - Best of luck. I hope it is not too hot for you.

I have found time to run and have managed to (almost) complete week 1 of my P & D schedule. Still struggling with maintaining speed on the  tempo run but should get results back on second blood test any day now which may provide some answers,

I have been running so slowly lately with no improvement and was starting to think I was overtrained which seemed a bit starnge after only haveing being running again for a couple of months. I did a HM on Sunday that  was too embarrassed to post on here which even though I ran as a training run, I couldn't run any faster than 9 m/m on the flat bits

I had a phone call from the docs today which I;m hoping is an explanation. I had some bloods done as I collapsed out running with what was diagnosed as a hypo and the bloods are showing a low red blood cell count. I've got to go back for more tests but hoping that some iron tablets will sort me out and that I'm not old and past it after all!

Minni  No wonder you want answers. It has been a while now so seems like it might be more than a pull or tear. I don't know if you have a Minor Injuries clinic but can be useful to get an x-ray just to put your mind at rest.

Well done to our ladies winning prizes and the multiple PB efforts.

My marathon training starts next week and I can't wait to satrt following a schedule!

2Old - Sounds promising. Maybe just needed a longer run to stretch it out.

Minni and Chick - so frustrating for you both. I've never found physio to be any better than what you can do yourself apart from the NHS one I saw for rehab after my shoulder surgery.

FRC That run sounds lovely and life affirming. I am doing the 70 mile P and D because I think I would break on the higher mileage one.

Fell run was interesting as we got lost and ended up wading though knee deep water and scrambling down a sheer drop. Absolutely knackered now though.

AA Glad to hear your injury hasn't affected your ability to drink wine.  I'm feeling pretty good despite having built up mileage quite quickly but have been stretching and working on core strength religiously.

Ant Your next 10k pace session sounds fun 

Chick I bet you'll be flying on your next run. Just how it goes - you have to take the crunchy with the smooth.

Going  for a fell run tomorrow for first time in ages and I can't wait!

Men - I was wondering about that as I am fairly confident about my HR for HM and MP  but just got out my monitor after 2 years non use and it"s dead as a dead thing! Time to spend some money.

My PB is actually 3:25 with a HM PB of 1:31 but that was back in 2007  I've been out for nearly 2 years with a non running shoulder injury so don't have any significant base. It's going to be a lot of trial and error with paces I think.

Just done all my stretches and core exercises following this mornings run

Thanks15West. Yes I have a Garmin so I shall give it a go. I 'm running Buxton HM as a training run next Sunday so will have a go at putting some speed in the last 4 miles. Also doing Fleetwood HM iin August which will give an indication of realistic marathon target.

Target race is Mablethorpe marathon.

So my last HM was 1:41  more than 2 years ago and my last marathon was 3:42 3 years ago. I aiming for 3:49 in October. Presumably my HMP will improve throughout the campaign with the introduction of speed training? What pace do youreckon I should be aiming for early on?
